Constant and Never Ending Improvement
The Goal
Run The North Face 100km Thailand in February 2020.
Training Update Finally training is in full swing.
Now I’m not going to set land speed records that’s for sure, 30km in 3hours 30mins.
Finishing the 100km course is the goal.
Current Training Program.
As above I increased my PB up to 30km.
As advised, I’m in gym often, working with weights.
- Squats,
- lunges,
- sit ups,
- Step ups etc….
The 100km race I’m aiming for is not until February 2020.
So I’m adding a short term goal in the meantime.
The Goal
Beat a course record that I held until recently.
5.8kms in under 25mins. Sounds easy right!
Well the course is not straight, contains many trip hazards and it’s not on the road.
Training to Win.
I need to run roughly 4mins flat per km to smash the record.
Problem is, as we speak, I can only hit 4mins per km for 2kms.
I set the goal of adding 200m every 5km session. Hence now I’m at 2kms.
Target date May 2019. The results will be on strava of course.
Previous PB was 25.11mins. The new record is 25.04, no excuse but the guy who set that is half my age.
What I have learnt so far.
I need to lose some weight.
4kg lost another 5kgs to go.
Fasting
Eating within an 8 hour window is the best for endurance.
After almost 3 weeks I’m averaging 15 hours per day.
