Khao Chalak
Consent and Never Ending Improvement
We finally made it to Khao Chalak.
Khao Chalak is about 1 hour and 30 mins south of Bangkok in the Province of Chon Buri.
Is Khao Chalak worth the trip?
In our opinion yes, Khao Chalak trails are well worth the short drive. We have already made plans to go back in 3 weeks.
We have the Hin Poeng Trail in 2 weeks.
How to get there, if you can find accommodation close, that’s great. If not Ban Saen is about 30 mins away.

Where to start, Khao Chalak has two starting points.
- At the entrance to the tarred road up the hill, see photo.
- and at the temple about 4kms around to the left, see photo.

Khao Chalak Temple Entrance
We decided to park and start from the temple. Secure parking, toilets and showers available.
What to expect.
Starting on the staircase was a hard introduction. But the trail starts within 50 to 100 meters up.
The trail on the right is the one that leads to the top. Follow that well worn trail another 50 to 100 meters take a turn up to the left. Don’t worry it’s well marked with black on yellow arrows.
Then it’s mostly up. To steep run on some sections. Refer to the Strava map so you don’t take a wrong turn like we did.
PS. Arrive early if your going on the weekend. The car park fills up very quickly.

What’s the best route? Next time we go we will take the same route up but this run down the road and take the last entrance on the right to return along the side if the hill.
Great trail running most enjoyable part! Roughly 10km round trip.
