100 km Training Update
5 Weeks to go.
This week was the first week I felt the pressure.
Shit only 5 weeks left to train!
- Am I ready?
- Can I do it?
Since I hired a coach my training has improved dramatically, as I expected .
My legs feel a lot stronger and I feel a lot better at the end of the 20+ km training runs.
The only concern I have left, is maintaining hydrated during the race.
I normally drink about 1 liter of water every 10ks.
But I will need to add some electrolytes during the 100. I have started trying different drinks during my training.
At 5 weeks I’m going with the powdered sports drink. That way I can add the powder to my water.
I’m still undecided about using salt tablets. My coach says it is not necessary as long as I’m eating and drinking along the way.
Training highlights from the last 10 days.
I have been adding some stair training in as suggested by my coach. Its not that much but 200m elevation over 25ks will have to do right now.
I’m now wearing leg weights everyday. To help strengthen my legs. Something is better than nothing!
